The body of the review

TradeTapp belongs on a general contractor’s shortlist when subcontractor financial reviews, safety assessments and project approvals need a shared system, particularly alongside BuildingConnected Pro. Autodesk’s TradeTapp overview describes custom questionnaires, financial ratios, approval workflows and shared qualification status. Buy only after confirming the subscription scope and demonstrating the import, correction and renewal workflows.

Small contractors primarily shopping for estimating, dispatch or invoicing should look elsewhere because TradeTapp’s published focus is subcontractor qualification. A general contractor with a formal review process has a clearer reason to consider it: the product overview brings financial and safety information into the decisions about which subcontractors to approve.

This review draws on Autodesk’s published pricing, product pages, help documentation and terms, and on individual customer reviews. Prices, plan features and terms were checked on October 13, 2026.

What does TradeTapp cost?

Autodesk’s purchase guide directs pricing and demo inquiries to sales. There is no published TradeTapp monthly or annual rate, included-user allowance or additional-user price on that page. The relevant purchasing options are a TradeTapp subscription inquiry and the broader preconstruction bundle.

Purchase optionMonthly priceAnnual priceIncluded usersScope that matters
TradeTapp subscriptionCustom quoteCustom quoteConfirm in quoteQualification and risk management; contact sales through the purchase guide
Forma for PreconstructionCustom quoteCustom quoteConfirm in quoteIncludes TradeTapp and six other products, according to the bundle page

Autodesk’s broader pricing page describes flexible user, project and account-based pricing. It doesn’t specify which basis applies to an individual TradeTapp proposal.

A five-person team also needs a custom quote. Ask for all five intended users to be identified by role, including anyone who only reviews financial information or approves awards. An owner needs the full operating cost before deciding whether centralized qualification justifies another subscription.

Which purchasing option makes sense?

The Forma for Preconstruction page lists seven included products: Forma Takeoff, Forma Estimate, Forma Data Management, BuildingConnected Pro, Bid Board Pro, TradeTapp and ProEst. A general contractor replacing several preconstruction tools should request that bundle quote alongside a TradeTapp-focused proposal. A business satisfied with its existing estimating system should compare the cost of the qualification workflow it actually needs.

For existing BuildingConnected Pro users, the strongest reason to consider TradeTapp is the qualification handoff. Autodesk’s TradeTapp overview says qualification data automatically syncs to BuildingConnected Pro. Have sales show the estimator’s view and specify the entitlements required on both sides.

Buyers extending the purchase into other Forma bundles also face inconsistent package descriptions:

Buyer warning: Autodesk’s companion-bundle pages disagree on included products:

For an expanded purchase, budget from a written, itemized quote and require Autodesk to confirm both product counts and the Tandem edition before committing.

Those discrepancies concern companion bundles. Keep the TradeTapp purchase tied to the qualification and connected workflows the contractor intends to deploy.

How do team members get access?

Autodesk’s user-access guide says purchases or renewals after March 24, 2025 use Autodesk Forma to manage TradeTapp access. Users must be added to the company’s Forma account and assigned a TradeTapp subscription in Forma or Autodesk User Management.

The coworker guide separately explains that TradeTapp administrators invite coworkers and set permissions. These are separate setup responsibilities: company membership, subscription assignment and permissions all need an owner. The invitation instructions provide no included-seat allowance.

Before rollout, identify the Forma Hub Administrator and have each intended reviewer sign in. Autodesk’s subscription-request guide specifically directs users to that administrator for subscription assignment. This matters when purchasing and risk review sit in different departments.

Autodesk’s General Terms allow it to audit use and require immediate purchases covering at least the value of any noncompliance it finds plus its reasonable verification costs.

Where can qualification workflows stall?

Autodesk’s TradeTapp overview describes automated financial reviews, project-specific risk assessments and customized mitigation recommendations. The general-contractor help directory also covers requesting corrections, assigning reviewers, reviewing financials and accepting project approvals. A useful demonstration should follow one vendor through that whole sequence.

Renewal automation has specific prerequisites. According to Autodesk’s automatic-renewal guide:

  • Account setting: Automated renewal invites must be switched on in Settings > Renewals before any trigger applies, according to Autodesk’s automatic-renewal guide.
  • Imported vendors: Auto-renewals are off by default for vendors in Imported status. Enable the setting and mark the application complete before requests can trigger.
  • Completed applications: The daily check requires Complete application status and, except for imported applications, qualification status set after the latest vendor submission.
  • Expiration triggers: Requests can follow qualification, financial-statement or insurance expiration criteria. The financial trigger uses the most recent statement date even when financial input is still in progress or not started.
  • Vendor exclusions: Individual companies can be excluded by switching their Auto-renewal setting off.

A contractor migrating an established vendor list should assign someone to verify these conditions. Importing records alone will leave renewal work unfinished if applications remain in Imported status. During the demonstration, ask for an imported vendor, an incomplete financial review and an expiring insurance record to be processed separately.

Autodesk’s renewal-cancellation guide says all users in the company account can cancel a vendor renewal request, returning the application to its previous status. Establish who should do this internally, because the change affects qualification tracking and sends an email to the vendor.

Financial recommendations also require human ownership. Autodesk’s General Terms put responsibility for validating outputs and exercising professional judgment on the customer. Keep a named financial reviewer and award approver in the process, with clear criteria for investigating a risk flag.

Which integrations should buyers verify?

Autodesk describes three relevant connections on its TradeTapp overview:

  • BuildingConnected Pro: Qualification data syncs into bid management so estimating teams can use risk information when selecting subcontractors.
  • Forma Build: Supplier qualification and risk profiles can be accessed within Cost Management.
  • ERP and accounting systems: Autodesk says internal backlog data can flow into TradeTapp from those systems.

The product page does not name QuickBooks Online or specify its supported records. A QuickBooks-dependent contractor should have Autodesk demonstrate the exact connector, update direction, refresh timing and correction handling. A broad accounting-integration claim leaves those practical questions open.

For bid solicitation and side-by-side comparisons, Autodesk describes those workflows on the BuildingConnected Pro page. A buyer should evaluate the combined workflow if estimators need both bidding and risk review, and confirm the licensing scope in writing.

For a custom ERP connection, ask who builds and maintains it. Autodesk’s General Terms condition API use on the relevant subscription and applicable documentation or special terms. Obtain the TradeTapp-specific permissions and implementation scope before allocating development time.

Are there usage charges?

The TradeTapp purchase guide and broader pricing page provide no TradeTapp-specific per-vendor, per-review, storage or API rate schedule. A buyer therefore needs explicit allowances and overage terms in the proposal.

Supply Autodesk with the expected vendor population, annual qualification volume and integration requirements. Ask whether any of those measures affect the price, what happens when the business exceeds the quoted scope, and whether growth changes the renewal price.

A contractor should budget only after Autodesk identifies the billing unit and any minimum commitment. Without that information, multiplying an assumed seat rate by headcount would produce a misleading estimate.

What could raise the total cost?

Autodesk’s pricing page offers delivery services for buyers needing extra support, without publishing their cost. Request separate line items for any proposed migration, configuration, training and integration work. Confirm what the subscription itself includes before treating those services as necessary expenses.

Under Autodesk’s General Terms, if the Offering Identification does not specify the permitted number and other attributes, the subscription takes trial attributes, by default 30 days and one named employee. Require users and scope in the written order.

There is also internal setup work. Autodesk’s renewal guide makes application status and renewal settings consequential, while its product overview describes customizable financial ratios and approval workflows. Assign responsibility for defining those rules and cleaning vendor records.

Financial-document handling belongs in the implementation scope. Autodesk’s General Terms prohibit uploading specified sensitive personal data, including financial account numbers, except where Autodesk expressly requires it. Have the finance team establish redaction and access procedures before collecting documents at scale.

What do customers report?

Capterra rates TradeTapp 4.2 out of 5 from 6 reviews. Public customer evidence is thin: the reviews shown date from 2017 and 2022 and are labeled incentivized. Part of the Buyer Confidence Score reflects limited public customer information; the individual accounts below provide specific workflows to examine.

  • Imports and corrections: On Capterra, Anonymous User, Exec. Admin., June 4, 2022, praised invitations, reminders and status monitoring. The reviewer also alleged that insurance and separate contact details could not be uploaded as needed, forcing vendors to qualify again, and that submitted errors required vendors to log back in to correct them.
  • Financial approvals: On Capterra, Sal B., December 29, 2017, praised benchmarking and approvals tied to award amount and timeframe. The reviewer wanted more automated review workflows; Autodesk’s current product page now advertises configurable approval workflows, so ask to see the required sequence.
  • Subcontractor experience: On Capterra, Donna S., December 29, 2017, valued information carrying forward into another prequalification. TC N., December 19, 2017, found the construction-manager view clear but considered the subcontractor experience less intuitive and wanted better financial-input handling.
  • Record quality: On Capterra, Robert K., December 19, 2017, praised searching and at-a-glance information but reported that company entries were too easy to duplicate.

These are individual accounts, and their age limits conclusions about current behavior. The most useful acceptance test is a representative import followed by a vendor correction, duplicate-record check and approval. Include a subcontractor participant because the submitting side affects how quickly the general contractor receives usable information.

Autodesk’s glossary says subcontractors need no paid subscription to submit qualifications through BuildingConnected’s Qualification Manager. In a December 21, 2017 Capterra reply, the vendor said TradeTapp is free for invited subcontractors.

Autodesk’s support guide describes in-product help followed by chat or email access to agents. Confirm the escalation route for blocked financial submissions before moving the qualification process into production.

What are trial and cancellation terms?

No TradeTapp-specific free trial is published in Autodesk’s purchase guide; a demo is available. The Preconstruction FAQ says trial availability may vary across products within the bundle. Confirm any evaluation’s duration, card requirement, user allowance and permitted use directly with sales.

Autodesk’s General Terms provide default rules if a trial is offered: 30 days, non-commercial evaluation, and one named employee for a business, unless documentation or special terms say otherwise. They also allow Autodesk to end trials without further notice. Arrange permission explicitly before planning a multi-person evaluation using live work.

The broader pricing page advertises a no-hassle 30-day money-back guarantee. The General Terms say a return may qualify for a refund under the Autodesk Return Policy. Ask Autodesk to confirm that policy’s application to the specific TradeTapp quote and purchase channel before paying.

The General Terms establish fixed subscription periods and say certain subscriptions may renew automatically. A renewed subscription runs under the then-current terms. Section 16.1 of the General Terms lets a customer terminate for Autodesk’s material breach left uncured 30 days after written notice. Under Section 17.2 of the General Terms, a customer who rejects a materially adverse terms change within 30 days of its notice loses the affected subscription at the earlier of the term’s end or 180 days after that notice, with a prorated refund of prepaid fees for the remaining term. Confirm the renewal notice deadline and cancellation procedure in the agreement. The vendor-application renewal controls discussed earlier manage subcontractor paperwork; subscription renewal is a separate contractual matter.

Autodesk’s General Terms also let it terminate if the customer is acquired or changes control without Autodesk’s prior written consent.

US and Canadian customers agree to individual arbitration and waive class actions under the General Terms.

Autodesk’s General Terms cap aggregate liability at the greater of fees paid or payable for the offering in the year before the events giving rise to liability or US$1,000, subject to stated exceptions and applicable law.

Plan the data exit before signing. Autodesk’s General Terms require customer backups and say access ends when the subscription expires or terminates. Autodesk may offer a brief retrieval period, potentially with fees, but otherwise may delete content without notice. Request an export demonstration and a written retention schedule.

Should a general contractor buy TradeTapp?

Shortlist TradeTapp when financial qualification, safety review and project approvals are established responsibilities that need a shared system. Autodesk’s published workflow fits that requirement, particularly when estimators already use BuildingConnected Pro.

The purchase should remain conditional on an itemized quote, working access for every intended reviewer, and a successful demonstration of import, correction and renewal handling. A contractor with only occasional qualification needs should first compare that administrative commitment with its workload. For estimating, dispatch or invoicing as the primary requirement, choose a product whose published scope centers on that work.
