Projul Review: Is Core+ Worth It for a Remodeling Crew?

Projul review checked October 2026: plan costs, QuickBooks sync limits, mobile feedback and cancellation terms for remodeling contractors.
Projul is a conditional fit for small remodeling contractors that want estimates, schedules, job costing and progress billing together. Core+ is the practical starting point for that workflow, provided the accounting sync and mobile app handle the firm's actual jobs.
Moderate confidence: confirm several things in writing before committing.
The score measures how much a buyer can check before committing to Projul, not how well the software performs. We research products; we do not test them. How the score works.
Projul is a conditional fit for small remodeling contractors that want estimates, schedules, job costing and progress billing together. Core+ is the practical starting point for that workflow, provided the accounting sync and mobile app handle the firm’s actual jobs.
Shops needing only low-cost invoicing should look elsewhere because the broader construction workflow drives the purchase. Contractors requiring subcontractors to log in and update their own work should also look elsewhere: Projul’s employee and contractor guide describes subcontractor profiles as scheduling placeholders without login access.
This review draws on Projul’s published pricing, product pages, help documentation and terms, and on individual customer reviews. Prices, plan features and terms were checked on October 16, 2026.
Projul’s pricing page lists four plans. Annual prices below are monthly equivalents paid upfront for the year; monthly subscriptions have separate prices.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Annual billing | Included users | Main gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $249/month | $199/month; $2,388/year | Up to 3 | Basic estimating, scheduling, invoicing and time tracking |
| Core | $529/month | $399/month; $4,788/year | Up to 10 | Change orders, eSignatures, project management and full mobile app |
| Core+ | $799/month | $599/month; $7,188/year | Up to 20 | Job costing, progress billing, client portal and QuickBooks Online |
| Pro | $1,599/month | $1,199/month; $14,388/year | Unlimited | Purchase orders, daily logs, QuickBooks Desktop and AI Connect |
All prices, user allowances and gates in the table come from Projul’s pricing page.
Projul’s pricing page offers veterans 5% off, with eligibility verified during the demo and the discount applied before invoicing.
Assuming five people need user accounts, Core costs $529 billed monthly or $399 per month billed annually at $4,788. However, the same pricing page puts job costing, progress billing and QuickBooks Online on Core+ at $799 billed monthly or $599 per month billed annually at $7,188. For a remodeler tracking project margins and staged invoices, those requirements determine the plan before headcount does.
Starter deserves a narrower evaluation. Projul’s plan comparison excludes change orders, templates, project management and the full mobile app from Starter. An owner handling changing scopes and field documentation should demonstrate those workflows before choosing the entry price.
Buyer warning: Projul’s homepage groups geofencing with Core+ and Pro, while its pricing page assigns geolocation and geofencing only to Pro. Budget for both annual scenarios, $7,188 for Core+ and $14,388 for Pro, and obtain written confirmation before choosing a plan for GPS tracking.
The pricing page also separates subcontractor profiles from users: Starter excludes them, Core allows up to 20, and Core+ and Pro allow unlimited profiles. Because those profiles cannot log in, a general contractor should demonstrate how schedule changes reach outside trades before relying on that allowance.
Projul’s cost-breakdown guide describes estimate views showing hard costs, markup, gross profit and margins. That supports a useful estimating conversation: the owner can inspect internal costs while preparing the customer’s proposal. Bring a completed remodel estimate to the demo and compare its labor, materials and margin calculations.
Several operational details deserve the same attention:
Projul’s invoicing feature page places Service Invoicing, which pulls approved time into invoices, on Pro. Its commercial-billing claims also include retainage and AIA-style progress documentation. A contractor with formal payment applications should ask for a completed example matching the customer’s required form, including a change order and retainage release.
Projul’s pricing page includes QuickBooks Online on Core+ and Pro, and QuickBooks Desktop on Pro. The integration can reduce duplicate entry, but the published details affect when the bookkeeper sees changes and which records remain editable in each system.
Buyer warning: Projul’s QuickBooks feature page promises Online updates within minutes and class mapping, while its Online integration guide describes automatic syncing around midnight and says invoice Class and Location fields are not filled. Allow for manual syncing and accounting cleanup in the implementation budget until Projul demonstrates the required timing and mappings.
The Online integration guide gives these rules:
Each rule above comes from Projul’s Online integration guide. The bookkeeper should test a deposit, progress invoice, payment, tax adjustment and corrected time entry before importing the full customer list.
For Desktop, Projul’s Desktop integration guide specifies one-way syncing from Projul, QuickBooks Desktop 2020 or newer, and two connector applications installed on the same computer. It also warns that open data-entry screens can cause sync failures. A Desktop buyer should include the person maintaining that computer in the setup demonstration.
For other connections, Projul’s QuickBooks feature page advertises CompanyCam and material suppliers including SRS, Beacon, GAF and ABC Supply. Confirm the exact records transferred and any supplier-account requirements before treating those connections as replacements for existing ordering procedures.
Projul’s AI Connect page says the Pro feature connects ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and automation services including Zapier, Make and n8n. It can draft estimates, create leads and adjust schedules. An owner regularly transferring walkthrough notes into estimates has a concrete workflow to test.
The same feature page says AI Connect cannot create or send invoices, handle timesheets or payroll, or work with daily logs and purchase orders. Estimates await human sending and approval. Buying the highest tier for end-to-end billing automation would therefore leave substantial office work outside the AI connection.
Projul’s AI permissions breakdown also permits destructive actions with write access, including deleting clients and associated records, subject to paid-invoice restrictions. Start with read-only access for reporting, then enable writes only after reviewing permissions and backup procedures.
Usage needs a separate confirmation. The AI Connect guide says every account receives a fixed allowance of free calls that does not reset. Its rate-limit guide describes both short-term throttling and a monthly limit that resets the following month. Ask for the paid allowance, trial allowance and any overage or external-tool charges in writing.
The AI Connect guide also says to add AI Connect to the plan after the free calls run out. Ask whether that means upgrading to Pro or buying an add-on, and at what price.
Projul’s terms name JustiFi as the payment processor and require merchant registration. They list the following processing rates, effective in 2023 and still stated in the current terms:
Under those published rates, card fees rise with the size of the payment while ACH fees stop at $30 per transaction, so large remodeling deposits and progress draws cost far less to collect by ACH.
Projul’s fee-allocation guide allows account defaults or invoice-specific settings to pass fees to clients. Changing the default leaves existing invoices unchanged. Review both the customer agreement and each invoice’s settings before relying on fee recovery.
The invoicing guide says ACH normally takes three to four business days and cards one to two, with early ACH transactions potentially taking longer. Schedule collections around supplier and payroll deadlines accordingly.
Projul has an overall 4.7/5 from 21 Capterra reviews on Capterra and 4.9/5 from 37 G2 reviews on G2. The separate Projul Mobile app has 3.19/5 from 57 Apple App Store ratings on the App Store. That mobile rating is more than a full star below both review sites, making crew-phone testing important before rollout.
These are individual accounts, and several detailed reviews are older:
Those accounts appear on G2. They support testing both the office workflow and a multi-phase job on the devices crews actually carry.
On Capterra, Konstantin P., April 2, 2026, alleged persistent lag, poor service and loss of data after stopping payment, and regretted paying annually. This is one serious customer report. It strengthens the case for a short initial commitment and a verified export procedure before storing the company’s only project records in Projul.
Buyer warning: Projul’s homepage says every annual plan includes Premium Support, while its pricing page excludes Starter; the homepage also promises no extra add-on-module charges, while the terms require a separate 1build subscription. Budget Starter without included Premium Support and allow a separate cost-data charge as conservative scenarios, then obtain written inclusions and prices because the pages disagree.
The pricing page displays a $4,500 value for Premium Support, covering workflow analysis, customization, training and data import. Projul’s terms include basic support at no additional charge and treat upgraded support as a separate purchase. Ask for the actual support charge applicable to the chosen billing arrangement. That displayed value alone does not establish what a Starter or monthly buyer will be invoiced.
Projul’s 1build guide describes localized cost lines and a one-week free trial of that integration. Updating prices in a section template also leaves other estimates using that template unchanged. An estimator needs both an add-on quote and a procedure for refreshing outstanding bids.
Growth can change the subscription too. The pricing page says adding employees can prompt a plan switch, and the terms require an immediate prorated charge for upgrading. Budget around the next staffing threshold, including office users, before choosing annual billing.
Projul’s terms allow price changes or new fees on at least 15 days’ notice. For annual plans, a change takes effect at renewal.
Projul’s AI Connect page mentions a free trial without specifying its duration, card requirement or included plan. Its homepage explicitly offers a free demo requiring no credit card. Obtain trial details separately; the one-week 1build offer and non-resetting AI calls have their own scope.
Projul’s terms also provide for a trial and let its creator submit a trial cancellation request from within the app. Capterra’s listing shows no free trial.
Cancellation requires action beyond contacting support. Both the cancellation guide and terms require requesting and submitting the electronic cancellation form. An email or phone request alone does not complete cancellation.
Annual refund language conflicts. The terms allow approved prorated early-cancellation refunds only during the first year, minus an unspecified non-refundable setup, training and support fee; access ends immediately when such a refund is issued. The cancellation guide says unused time receives no refund and access continues to the billing-cycle end. Budget the annual payment as committed until the applicable refund deduction and access date are confirmed in writing.
For monthly subscriptions, the terms provide no unused-time refund and retain access through the paid period. Subscriptions auto-renew, so retain proof that the cancellation form was submitted.
The terms also allow Projul to downgrade, suspend or terminate access to a paid account unused for 180 days or more, after 30 days’ advance written notice.
Plan the exit before canceling. Projul’s export guide lists CSV exports for clients, leads, projects and costs, plus photo and file downloads in groups of up to 100. The terms provide a 30-day post-termination download window with exceptions, including nonpayment and specified violations. Confirm how signed documents and other required records are preserved, then export while access is active.
Core+ merits a demonstration for a remodeler needing connected estimates, job costs, progress billing and customer updates because Projul’s pricing page puts those tools together. Pro makes sense when a demonstrated requirement, such as purchase orders or QuickBooks Desktop, justifies the higher bill.
Keep the purchase conditional on a complete sample job: estimate, change order, crew time, progress invoice, payment and accounting sync. Confirm in writing the inclusions and cancellation terms where Projul’s own pages disagree, and let field staff test their phones before paying annually. That gives the owner a decision based on the firm’s work and total cost.
Ask before you buy: where Projul’s own pages disagree, checked October 2026.
